I read about threaded comments in WordPress at desizntech and was probably pointed to that (can’t recall for sure) by Richard Darell who tweets from Stockholm as @minervity
Richard’s tweets are very useful and he also runs Minervity, a blog that is worth a regular look for the topics it covers – from Photoshop to free apps.
So back to threaded comments. There under the sub-heading Improving Your Comment Section it states that since WordPress 2.7, threaded comments have been built in to WordPress.
I felt such an idiot, such a country bumpkin when I read that WordPress has threaded comments built in. I have been reading that commenting is on the decline. Instead, people were commenting on Twitter, Facebook, etc. and of course, not being ‘on the page’. I had been reading that there were new plug-ins that imported Twitter comments.
And I had been thinking about Disqus, Js-Kit, and Intense Debate as alternative commenting systems. And all of this was driven by the fact that comments on WordPress blogs were not threaded. Except they can be.
All you have to do (if you didn’t know this already) is to go to Settings / Discussion and check off the box that reads Enable threaded (nested) comments.
So I told a fellow blogger how I felt about not knowing about this, and she didn’t know about it either. So maybe there are lots of us out there who didn’t know. So this is a heads up to everyone who is glad to read this short article.

Here goes ! Here’s a comment so I can see what you mean about threaded comments, because your article (beautifully written) went over my head.
Thank you, Tom for commenting and putting this to the test.
Once I have posted this reply I hope you will see what you mean.
