The Independent newspaper published an article by Katherine Rowland on January 12th under the title ‘Researchers identify yet another threat to hive health.’

The article mentions a parasitic fly that may be responsible for CCD. The article then mentions that the fly can be added to other possible explanations that

include parasites, mites, and bacterial and viral infections.

The article fails to mention neonicotinoid pesticides as a possible culprit, at all.

Claire Thompson writing in the Grist and in the Guardian (Grist is part of the Guardian Environment Network) writes:

Of particular concern is a group of pesticides, chemically similar to nicotine, called neonicotinoids (neonics for short), and one in particular called clothianidin.
