There is an article in the Telegraph today reporting how Clint Eastwood is in the line of fire for his half-time advertisement at the Superbowl.
The advertisement, says Eastwood, was intending as a galvanising and inspiring message to the American people.
It showed how Detroit was a success story – having pulled itself out of the mire and back on the road to work.
The Republicans are up in arms about it because, they claim, it is an endorsement of Barack Obama’s plans to reinvigorate the economy, and because of the millions of tax dollars spent by Obama’s administration on Detroit.
I only see that the Republicans have shot themselves in the foot with every word of objection they raise.
That is because the take-home message is that tax dollars make jobs, which equals success for Obama.
And the secondary message is that the good guy (Clint Eastwood) likes it – and everybody loves Clint.
Win, win, win.
